Marvin Allen Turner

Marvin Turner, of Dawson, passed away Sunday, July 30, 2023 at Sanford Heart Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD at the age of 87.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, August 12, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Hanson and Dahl Funeral Home in Dawson.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the funeral home on Saturday. Pastor Linda Estling will officiate. Burial will be at Hauge Old Stone Church Cemetery rural Kenyon Minnesota.

Marvin Allen Turner was born October 10, 1935 in Northwood, IA to Arthur and Isla Mae (Thompson) Turner.  He was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith.  Marvin graduated from Ellendale High School in 1954. Following graduation, Marvin enlisted in the United States Air Force serving until his honorable discharge.  After his time in the service, he spent his working years farming and driving truck.  Marvin was united in marriage to Geraldyne Nelson on July 26, 1996.  They spent over 25 years wintering in Arizona, and also enjoyed many summers at the lake. Marv was a VFW and American Legion member.

He is survived by his wife, Geraldyne; children, Dallas (Ellen) Turner and ValJean Ingram; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; stepchildren, Gary (Sandra) Nelson and Karen (Larry) Borstad; siblings, Russell Turner,  Janet Boehland and Floyd (Sandra) Nelson; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Marvin was preceded in death by his parents; his first two wives, Lavaine and Evelyn; infant granddaughter Tiana Turner, son-in-law Tom Ingram, brother Gerald & sister Nora.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Lac qui Parle Hope Network.
