Rudella Haugen, of Montevideo, died Thursday, October 5, 2017 at Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo at the age of 88.
Memorial services will be held on Monday, October 9, 2017 at 7:00 PM at the Anderson - TeBeest Funeral Home Chapel in Montevideo with Rev. Marie Eckberg officiating. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be at Mandt Lutheran Cemetery in rural Montevideo.
Rudella Haugen was born on June 18, 1929 at home in Mandt Township, Chippewa County to Ole and Mina (Falla) Pederson. She was baptized on July 21, 1929 and confirmed on May 30, 1943 at Jevnager Church. Rudella attended District 63 school until 8th grade. Because all of her brothers were serving in the military, Rudella stayed at home to help her parents on the farm. She married Donald Haugen on July 13, 1953 at Pastor Tweet’s parsonage in Montevideo.
Rudella worked at Northwestern Bell Telephone Company in Montevideo until 1966 when Rudella and Donald moved to Escondido, CA. They returned to Montevideo in 1968. Rudella enjoyed fishing and collecting dolls and horses figurines. She also liked to do a variety of craft projects, especially making rag rugs. She also did crocheting, needlepoint and sewing. Rudella very much enjoyed working jigsaw puzzles. There was always a puzzle set up on a card table in her house or apartment. She loved animals. When she lived at Eastgate she would always feed and shelter the stray cats in the neighborhood.
Rudella is survived by numerous nieces and nephews, sister-in-law, Delores Haugen, as well as other extended family and friends.
