Robert Holen, of Montevideo, died on Tuesday, October 23, 2019 at Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo at the age of 85.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 28, 2019 at 2:00 PM at Anderson - TeBeest Funeral Home in Montevideo with Pastor Matt Danielson officiating. Interment will be in Terrace Lawn Memory Gardens.
Visitation with the family will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Monday.
Robert J. Holen was born on December 19, 1933 in Montevideo to Anton and Margaret (Golden) Holen. He attended country school at District #2 until the 8th grade. Bob helped his dad on the farm at home as well as his neighbors’ until he was around 18 years old before he began working various jobs. He worked for Mcgarrys doing bridge construction for a few years, and also did road construction work for Johnson & Fossum. Bob then worked back on the farm for a while before he began cleaning the floors at Red Owl and Coborn’s which he did for over 20 years. He was a member of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church of Baxter and enjoyed spending time watching tv, especially NASCAR.
Bob is survived by his brother, Terry; nieces: Darcy (fiancé Mike Peters) Lasley and her children: Caleb and Ceara and Dawn (Richard) Androli and their children: Dalton and Talia; step-nephews: Jeff (Penni) Lalim and their family and John (Amy) Lalim and their family; step-niece, Jody (Elliot) Hilden and their family; as well as other extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister-in-law, Irene Holen.
