Richard Jorgenson died Thursday, November 30, 2017 at Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo at the age of 83.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 PM on Tuesday, December 5, 2017 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Montevideo with Rev. Donald S. McKee officiating. Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Cemetery in Montevideo.
Visitation with the family will be held for one hour before the services at the church on Tuesday. Arrangements are with Anderson - TeBeest Funeral Home in Montevideo.
Richard “Dick” George Jorgenson was born in Montevideo, MN on December 17, 1933 to George and Ruth (Gruchow) Jorgenson. He was baptized at Immanuel Lutheran Church of Watson and confirmed at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Montevideo. He attended rural school in Mandt Township and graduated from Morris Agriculture School in 1951.
Dick served in the Army from 1955-1957. During his service he was stationed in Fort Chaffee, Arkansas, Fort Dix, New Jersey, and Crailsheim and Stuttgart, Germany. Following his discharge from the Army, Dick farmed in Mandt Township up until he moved to Brookside in Montevideo in 2010. He was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church where he attended Sr. Lites monthly, and was also a member of the VFW.
Dick is survived by his brothers: Gerhardt “Bud” of rural Montevideo, Roger (Glennis) of Montevideo, and Jerome "Jerry" of Fairmont; sister, Virginia (Stanley) Ruppe of Owatonna; brother-in-law, Eldon Aeikens of Maynard; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Karen Aeikens; two infant sisters: Geraldine and Betty; and sisters-in-law: Dorothy and Bonnie.
