H. Bernice Goulson, of Montevideo, passed away on Friday, June 7, 2019 at Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo at the age of 95.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM on Thursday June 13, 2019 at Anderson-TeBeest Funeral Home in Montevideo with Rev. Jeff Fitzkappes officiating. Burial will be in Terrace Lawn Memorial Gardens rural Montevideo.
Visitation with the family will be held from 2:00-3:00 PM on Thursday at Anderson-TeBeest Funeral Home.
H. Bernice Goulson was born on April 5, 1924 at home in Lac qui Parle County, MN to Louis and Bertha (Kling) Zempel. She was baptized at St. Paul Lutheran Church and was confirmed at Jevnaker Lutheran. Bernice attended rural school in Lac qui Parle County Dist. #15. She was united in marriage to Melvin Goulson on April 2, 1959 at Jevnaker Lutheran Church. They lived and farmed in Mandt Township. Besides helping on the farm Bernice worked at Stamsons Restaurant, Trailways Café and Brandon Tire.
Bernice was a member of Jevnaker Lutheran Church and then Trinity Lutheran Church starting in the ‘70's. She volunteered at church with the quilting group and as a greeter. She also spent time volunteering at Luther Haven. She moved to Brookside Manor in 2003 and then to Luther Haven Nursing Home. She enjoyed gardening, fishing and needlepoint. Bernice loved spending time with family especially her granddaughter Cara.
She is survived by her son, Duane Goulson of Rosemount, MN; a granddaughter, Cara Marie Goulson of Rosemount, MN; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Melvin in 2003, four brothers: Francis “Pants”, Palmer “Click”, Kenneth “Ken”, and Robert “Swede” Zempel: and four sisters: Dorothy “Dosey” Adamson, Gloria “Bobbie” Hoff, Grace “Sister” Anderson, and Florine “Fritz” Nordby.
