Lyla Livingston died Monday, August 7, 2017 at the Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo at the age of 86.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Lyla Ann Livingston (Sorensen) was born on March 21, 1931 in Springfield, MN to Mandrew and Margaret (Anderson) Sorenson. She was baptized and confirmed at Comfrey Congregational Church in Comfrey, MN. Lyla attended Comfrey High School, and graduated in 1948. She married Weldon Hodge on August 8, 1948 in Comfrey, and they later divorced in 1972. She then married Bill Livingston in 1990 in Chanhassen, MN, and they later divorced in 1996. Throughout her life, Lyla lived in various areas. She lived in places such as Edina, MN, El Cajon, CA, Tucson, AZ, and Montevideo, MN. Lyla was a hairdresser for the majority of her life. She was active in the American Legion Auxillary and the Red Hat Club. She was also a member of the Methodist Church, where she was the pie chairperson. Lyla enjoyed dancing, playing cards, and baking. She was an avid sports watcher and especially enjoyed watching the Minnesota Twins.
Lyla is survived by her children: Carmen (Mark) Weckwerth, Rex (Linda) Hodge, and Tami Hodge (Gregg Waylander); sister-in-laws, Elaine Sorensen and Delphine Sorensen; grandchildren: Rita (Doug) Bahr, Cealy (Andy) Eckberg, Heather (Mike) Zylka, Josh (Cassie Pouliot) Weckwerth, Ryan Hodge, Sarah Botkin, and Kimberly Botkin; and numerous great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Marvin and Ivan Sorensen; sister, Lola Felker; sisters-in-law, Sam and Fat Sorensen; and brother-in-law, Whitey Felker.
